Celebrating the songs and music of The Grateful Dead, Jerry Garcia Band and Old & In the Way
The Storytellers possess a great love and reverence for the music of The Grateful Dead / Jerry Garcia Band / Old & In the Way, as well as the special feeling of community unique to this genre of music.
While The Storytellers is not a Grateful Dead “tribute band” – they do not attempt to recreate the Grateful Dead’s sound – they do perform dozens of songs written and performed by The Grateful Dead, the Jerry Garcia Band and Old & In the Way. They take a decidedly folkier approach to this music that honors the original essence, joy and vibe of these beloved songs while creating new interpretations that will surprise and delight any audience.
Grateful Dead, Jerry Garcia Band and Old & In the Way covers performed by The Storytellers feature dynamic, smart and adventurous improvisational jams true to the spirit of the originals.
The Storytellers utilize professional gear and instruments including live sound and lights.
Whether they perform as a sextet (guitar, bass, fiddle, mandolin, banjo, percussion), a quintet (guitar, bass, fiddle, mandolin, percussion, a quartet (guitar, bass, fiddle, percussion, or a trio (guitar, bass, fiddle), songs feature a minimum of strong, soulful 3-part harmonies.
A live Storytellers show focusing on the Grateful Dead catalog – performed in front of kind, communal people – strives to tap into the collective relationship between band and audience that has the potential to transform ordinary musical moments into magical ones.
The Storytellers band is available to perform for festivals, fairs, weddings, civic, corporate and private events.
